The Australian Institute of Genealogical Studies is staffed by Volunteers.  We have only one paid staff member, our Office Manager Tricia Parnell, so it is important that we keep building our volunteer rosters.  There are many opportunities for members to join in the various projects and duties which help researchers to obtain the results they are looking for.

Many of our members have worked in diverse fields and obtained skills which would  be of benefit to our Library and we would welcome them to contact us.

We currently have vacancies for :-

Some of the projects our Research and Index Group have been involved in are:  Victorian Parliamentary Papers,  Early Victorian Land Records, early Council Ratepayers, Devon Land Records (some of these are now available through our Shop).

We have also been photographing and recording Plaques at the Necropolis Springvale. (The Necropolis are currently removing ashes after the expiration of 25 years, if no renewal fee has been paid). This project will provide a record of internments and family members will be able to obtain (for a small fee) a photo of the plaque.

As a Library Assistant, your role is to welcome all attendees and help them with their research. There is always a good feeling when you are able to help a visitor to 'unlock' their family details.

Some knowledge of the library holdings, some computer skills and a friendly and helpful manner are all you need to be considered as a Library Assistant.
