FAMILY JOURNEYS - Stories in the National Archives of Australia
Available in Paperback $19.95

Family Journeys – an intriguing new book on family history which draws on records from the National Archives of Australia.  Australians come from an amazingly diverse ancestry and tracing our complete histories and stories can be a complex (and impossible) task if you don't know where to look.

Family Journeys draws on the stories of families who were migrants from different corners of the globe. Some were affected by two world wars, some were 'ten-pound poms' who migrated to Australia and one is among the thousands of war brides who came out to Australia.

Stories showcased in Family Journeys, include:
•    Gardening guru Jamie Durie has family roots in Sri Lanka and a strong military tradition.
•    Sydney-based television presenter, actor and author Annette Shun Wah
•    Well-loved Australian film and television personality Noni Hazelhurst
•    Celebrity scientist Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki
•    Australian author Katharine Susannah Prichard and her husband Hugo Throssell
•    Sydney author and publisher Carol Fallows
•    Italian migrants Marina and Rosina Casamento
•    Antonio Cubillo who came to Port Darwin in 1895 as a migrant from the Phillippines
•    Inventor, marathon cyclist Ernie Old

The book includes insider’s tips on how to begin to explore the National Archives collection and retrieve records and can be consulted on the AIGS library shelves.
