An Index of the "Ordinary People" they uncover. Volume 3: 1870 - 1879 
This exciting, newly-released Index on CD follows the publication of Volumes 1 and 2, and enables: • family historians to search the Name Index for occurrences of a family name and flesh out the skeletons in the family closet. • academics and researchers to locate less-frequently used primary sources. • local historians can refer to the List of Parliamentary Reports and using the 'Find' feature on their browser, search for their locality. One Report covers work on the Campaspie Bridge, another the purchase of Hobson’s Bay Railway. This has resulted in a wealth of information for the local historian and the family researcher. • Social historians, students of aboriginal studies and behavioral scientists will also find a variety of reports offering unique and creative sources. Used in association with Volumes 1 and 2, these three volumes cover 30 years of the colony’s early history. This CD contains an Index to a collection of 150 different "Government Papers" held at the AIGS Library. The Index refers to a total of 38,900 plus "ordinary" Victorians going about their daily lives. The papers from which this information was extracted, are held in bound volumes available for research. The Public Records Office at North Melbourne have the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly papers bound into annual volumes and they are on open access. The State Library of Victoria have their copies 'in the stacks' and they are a little more difficult to access but certainly available to the public.
