One-on-One tuition can be provided for anyone who would like personal help with their Australian and British research.
Sometimes it is hard enough to track Australian relatives but it can be bewildering once it leads to the British Isles.
Civil Registration started in 1837 in England and Wales, 1855 in Scotland and 1845 in Ireland when certificates were introduced but prior to that, parish registers have to be consulted and they are often hard to find if you are not sure which county they are to be found in, or indeed if you have a county but no place mentioned.
We have friendly and experienced tutors for all countries of the British Isles, who will assist you to find and use the resources available in the Library, to help track down those elusive ancestors. These resources include fiche, film, books and CDs.
Help and information about family history Internet websites is also available.
From 2012, the cost of these personal sessions is $24 per hour for members and $38 per hour for non-members (includes GST).
Appointments can be arranged through the office (phone or email) or book in person at the front desk.
