North Western Area Meetings

The North Western (Flemington) Area of the Institute conducts monthly meetings on the third Monday of each month at 8.00pm, except for January and December. 

Meetings are free for members of the Institute, however there is a charge of $3.00 for non-members.

The meeting programmes usually consist of a talk by a speaker on a subject associated with Family History, Genealogy or related subject. This is followed by news of forthcoming events, news of the Institute and related bodies and an opportunity to socialise with other attendees over light refreshments.

Visitors are always most welcome.

Monday 21st  April - Robyn Luczynski
"Family History Resources at the Sam Merrifield Library."
Robyn Luczynski is the Local History Library Technician at the Moonee Valley Library Services. She will introduce you to the wealth of resources in this Library.
Please note that this meeting will be held at the Sam Merrifield Library 762 Mt Alexander Road Moonee Ponds commencing at the earlier starting time of 7.30pm.

Alternate records to pin down that elusive ancestor, using directories,
electoral rolls, and registers to trace your ancestors.

Monday 21st July - Anne Major
"Secrets, Scandals and Surprises" - Using lesser known English resources.
Anne was born in England and specialises in English research.     A member of AIGS for the past 12 years, and for ten of those has been a Library Assistant.    Past member of the AIGS Council and has taken part in organising and participating in AIGS Open Days, as well as participating at family history events at other venues.    At present conducting 'one-on-one' personal tutoring in English research as part of the AIGS Education programme, and is convening a new Special Interest Group for South East England comprising Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
