The Council of the Australian Institute of Genealogical Studies Inc. consists of up to 15 Councillors who are elected annually.
The incoming Council takes office at the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting which is usually held in April of each year.

All Council positions are Honorary.

Nominations for Council positions are advertised in the December edition of the AIGS magazine,
'The Genealogist' -  their duties being defined at that time.
